Part A: Knowledge, Skills, and Achievements
For this part of the reflection, you will document your achievements in CSCI 435 this semester using the provided worksheet. Parts of this process are designed to mimic the annual performance reviews that you will be doing professionally in your future career.
Overview
For Part A of the reflection, you will look back at your Course Plan and at all 10 Milestones to document what you accomplished this semester. This part of the review focuses on the positive accomplishments. Challenges and areas for improvement will be documented in Part B.
Correct Milestone Answers
In the Part A Worksheet, you are asked to tally up the number of questions you answered correctly on the Milestones. In order to do this calculation for each Milestone:
- Count any question that you got fully correct (check mark for the entire question) as one of your correct answers.
- Count a correct answer to Question 42 (the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy question) as one of your correct answers. A correct response to Question 42 will have a smiley face in the feedback.
- Ignore an incorrect response to Question 42 (frowning face in the feedback). This question functions as “extra credit,” so it does not count against your total if your answer was incorrect.
- For all questions other than Question 42, do not include partially or fully incorrect responses in your total of correct responses.
The total number of questions for each Milestone that is listed on Part A already excludes Question 42. For example, Milestone 1 had 58 total questions. However, this number is listed as 57 on the Part A worksheet, since there 57 “real” questions.
Here are some example calculations for Milestone 1, which show how to enter the number for Question 1 on the Part A Worksheet:
- Suppose you answered 56 of the “real” questions correct but had one wrong answer. You got Question 42 correct. You would enter 57 as your total (56 regular questions + 1 extra credit).
- If you got all 57 of the “real” questions correct but didn’t get the Hitchhiker’s question correct, you would still enter 57. Question 42 doesn’t count against you.
- If you got all 57 of the “real” questions correct and had a correct answer for Question 42, you would enter 58.
- Suppose you missed 5 of the “real” questions but answered Question 42 correctly. You would have 57 - 5 = 52 questions correct PLUS the extra credit, so you would enter 53 for Question 1 on the Part A Worksheet.
