Course Reflection
For the IST 620 Course Reflection, you will document your achievements using the provided worksheet. Parts of this process are designed to mimic the annual performance reviews that you will be doing professionally in your future career.
Overview
To complete the reflection, you will look back at your Course Plan and at all 5 Milestones to document what you accomplished this semester. You will document the challenges you experienced in this course, both internal and external. One way to assess how well you understand something is to think about what you still don’t know, so you will consider areas of possible future study. Finally, you’ll propose your course grade.
Grade Guidelines
For IST 620, use the following general guidelines to help you propose a course grade:
- For a course grade of A:
- You must have made a substantial and approximately equal contribution to each Milestone in accordance with the specified guidelines.
- You must have served as a Team Leader for at least one Milestone and performed all the required tasks of that role.
- Your group must have made a good effort on all the Milestone reports.
- Generally speaking, a course grade of A implies overcoming internal and external challenges to get things finished.
- For a course grade of B or B+:
- You must have made a substantial and approximately equal contribution to at least 4 of the 5 Milestones.
- Your group must have submitted complete Milestone reports that met the length and source requirements.
- The difference between a B and a B+ is whether or not you served as a Team Leader for at least one Milestone and performed all the required tasks of that role.
- For a course grade of C or C+:
- You must have made a substantial and approximately equal contribution to at least 3 of the 5 Milestones.
- The difference between a C and a C+ is whether or not you served as a Team Leader for at least one Milestone and performed all the required tasks of that role.
- For a course grade below C:
- A grade of D is appropriate if you made a substantial and approximately equal contribution to 1 Milestone.
- A grade of D+ is appropriate if you made a substantial and approximately equal contribution to 2 Milestones.
- A grade of F will be assigned if you did not participate in the required group project or fail to submit a Course Reflection.
