Lead singer and keyboardist Arne Flaten grew up murdering Bartok and Schumann on piano in the Washington, D.C. area. His family moved to the U.S. Embassy in Israel while he was in high school, and his first band, Contraband (David Khazam, Patrick Amezial, Jerry Amezial, Lior Zait, and Steve Somethingorother), practiced in a bomb shelter just north of Tel Aviv. He also sang with a traveling “electric pop choral ensemble” directed by former Janis Joplin keyboardist Michael Greenblat. Undergrad brought sporadic voice lessons, a choral group, and short-lived involvement in forgettable bands with ridiculous names. He continued writing, playing and singing (mostly in his garage...) while in grad school at Indiana University-Bloomington, and was ambushed by Virtue Trap while moving into his office at CCU.
