Give Kids The World is a non-profit organization that exists only to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village. Each day, Give Kids The World lives by this mission and has made a promise to never turn a child away. The Village was built through the selfless commitment and generous spirit of individuals and corporations who wanted to make a difference in the life of a child. Since 1986, more than 88,000 children have had their dream come true at Give Kids The World. No child in need has ever been turned away – and no child ever will. Give Kids The World is a place where families find joy, laughter, serenity, and a lifetime of memories.

Every year for a week over winter break a group of S.T.A.R. members take a trip down to the village and volunteer our time to help run the village. We help serve food at the Ginger Bread House, run consessions at the movie theater, monitor the arcade, drive the village train, make wish pillows at the Magic Castle, monitor Matthew’s boundless playground, and much, much more! The village gives us the opportunity to interact with the families and help terminally ill children create a life time of memories.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety.

Every year for Spring Break S.T.A.R. takes a trip either nationally or internationally to work with Habitat for Humanity. We spend the week building a house or houses. We all gain many skills such as using nail guns and power saws! It is a very rewarding feeling when you know that because of your work a family can now have a place to call home. Past trips have included: North Fort Myers, Fl, Chile, South America, Mobile, Al, Malawi, Africa, Amarillo, Tx and many more!
