Kimbel Library's theme for the 2010/2011 school year is "Privacy - choose it or lose it." Check out the library's moving display: Fix Your Face! This fun and informative display adresses the issues with privacy settings on Facebook. See how your right to privacy has slowly dwindled since the birth of Facebook and learn how you can protect your digital footprint.
Family Weekend - Privacy

Emerging technologies are changing today’s privacy rights and social norms. Citizens of the digital age have tremendous freedom to network and share ideas with others at a distance and in real time. H owever, with this freedom comes the danger of losing our privacy. As our online presences grow, we leave permanent and traceable digital footprints for all to see. This presentation will spread awareness about protecting your online presence and provide tips for safeguarding privacy on popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Banned Books Read-Out!

Join Kimbel Library as we celebrate Banned Books Week with a read-out. This multimeida presentation will inform and entertain as Coastal Carolina University facutly and students read from the most commonly banned books in the United States.
Slavery and Anti-Slavery Transnationl Archive Rollout

All are welcome to join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of faculty members Vernon Burton and Charles Joyner. Both scholars acted as editors for the Library's newest online archive: Slavery Anti-Slavery: A Transnational Archive.

National Gaming Day
November 13th, 12-4 p.m.

National Gaming Day is an initiative of the American Library Association to connect communities around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games. Kimbel Library will provide large screens for a video game tournament as well as more traditional board and card games. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
De-stress Fest
December 5th- 8th, 9-11 p.m.
Snacks will be provided for students studying in the library throughout the week. From 9-11 p.m. Kimbel Library will set up their de-stress fest table. This table provides puzzles, games, and other fun activities for any students feeling the pressure of finals week.
National Library Week
April 10th-16th
National Library Week is a time to remind others about the contribution libraries, librarians and library workers make to their communities every day. This year will consist of four main events: An edible book fair, library golf, and a student and faculty poetry slam. Small contests with giveaways will occur throughout the week!
De-stress Fest
May 1st–3rd, 9-11 p.m.
Kimbel Library
Snacks will be provided for students studying in the library throughout the week. From 9-11 p.m. Kimbel Library will set up their de-stress fest table. This table provides puzzles, games, and other fun activities for any students feeling the pressure of finals week.
