Discussion session 9: Rocky Intertidal Community

Question to answer (via email) and to discuss in class April 19th:

Read one paper dealing with rocky intertidal communities from the list of relevant literature indicated at the web page below:

For individuals with last names starting with the letters A - G, chose 1st authors of papers with the same letters.

For individuals with last names starting with the letters H - M, chose 1st authors of papers with the same letters.

For individuals with last names starting with the letters N - Z, chose 1st authors of papers with the same letters.

In summarizing your paper do not copy the abstract (you will lose points for that) but put your impression of the paper into your own words. Also make a good quality transparency of either a figure or table (only one) from the paper (you can get me to help or get help from the secretary in room 209 upstairs) that you feel is especially relevant to the main point that your paper is trying to emphasize. When making the transparency try to blow up the image so that it uses most of a 8.5 x 11 page so it is easy to see. You may volunteer to present your visual aid and story (get extra kudos for that), but at least be prepared to get up and talk about your paper using the overhead if called on in class.
