NOTES ON THOMAS KING OF LITTLE BEAVER TWP., 1820 1820 Federal Census of Beaver Co., PA, Little Beaver Twp. Thomas King 220010-20010 I believe this is the Thomas King who later showed up in Unity Twp., Columbiana Co., OH. His wife's name was Lucy Jenkins. 1830 Federal Census of Columbiana Co., OH, Unity Twp. Thomas King 0110201-11120(1 lined out?)1 [trailing zeros dropped] 1840 Federal Census of Columbiana Co., OH, Unity Twp. Thos King Jr. 010001-00011 [trailing zeros dropped, as always for 1830-40] Eleazer King 00001-0001 Thos King Sr. 00010001-00110001 In 1810, I believe Thomas was in Washington Co., PA. The following should be him: 1810 Federal Census of Washington Co., PA, Mt. Pleasant Twp. Thomas King 20010-00100 As evidence I offer this, which I copied from Rootsweb WorldConnect db 3127557: Eleazer Jenkins was a Capt. of Militia in Wash. Co., in 1784, was Justice of Peace of West Bethlehem Twp. and Judge in 1789. His will was probated in Wash. Co. in 1824 and Named wife Ruth, sons Andrew, William, Samuel, John, Adam, and daughters Sarah Wier, Rebecca Smith, Lucy King, Nancy Irwin, and Granddaughters Rebecca Clokey and Eliza McClure. According to this db, Eleazor Jenkins was b.c. 1752 in Ireland, d. 6 April 1824 in Washington Co., PA, mar. Rebecca Dunlap (b.c. 1751 in Lancaster, PA, dau. of Samuel Dunlap and Sarah of Ulster and Lancaster Co.), children: Adam, Samuel, Nancy (mar. ... Irwin), Rebecca Margaret (b.c. 1771, mar. ... Smith), Margaret, Sarah (b. 1776, mar. ... Wier), Andrew (b. 27 Jan 1780), William N. (b.c. 1782), and Lucy (b. 26 Nov 1787, d. 8 Mar 1848, mar. Thomas King). Note: the db doesn't mention Thomas King by name. Another Rootweb db (rdbaith) gives Lucy Jenkins' vitals as follows: b. 27 Oct 1787 in Beaver Co., PA, d. 8 Mar 1848 in Unity Twp., Columbiana Co., OH, spouse Thomas King. The names of her parents are not given. One child, Mary, b. 11 May 1826 in OH, d. 11 May 1904 in Unity Twp., mar. Benjamin Forney) is listed. Mary King Forney is said to be bur. Unity Brick Church Cem., Unity Twp. The same db says of Thomas King: b.c. 1784 in Ireland, d. 28 Jul 1856 in Unity Twp., bur. New Waterford Cem., Unity Twp. Lucy Jenkins King is said also to be bur. there. Other dbs (just search on Eleazor Jenkins) give additional info. And I don't hesitate a moment to add that I don't trust WorldConnect dbs as far as I can throw the Internet, so this info should be considered EXTREMELY tentative. Margaret Jenkins mar. Alexander McClure Sarah Jenkins mar. James Wier Rebecca Jenkins mar. Andrew Smith(???) Eleazor Jenkins mar. a second time, in 1814, to Ruth Kelly Eleazor Jenkins bur. Pigeon Creek Cem., Washington Twp. Eleazor Jenkins and Rebecca Dunlap an additional son: John Rebecca Clokey was the mar. name of Rebecca McClure, dau. or Rebecca King And from the census: 1800 West Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA Jenkins, Eleasor Esqr. 32101-12121 1810 West Behtlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA Eliezer Jenkins 10201-21201 [Adam, Samuel, and James Weir nearby] So it's possible ol' Eleazor had as many as three more sons and three more daugthers in addition to those listed in the dbs. 1820 West Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA James Weir 101201-30001 note: not IDed in 1830 This excerpt from the Beers History reveals who the Weirs were: THE WEIR FAMILY of Pigeon Creek. In July, 1770, there arrived in Philadelphia, Penn., a company of emigrants from County Antrim, Ireland, among whom were Robert Robinson (born 1739, died June 23, 1836, aged ninety-seven years), his wife, Rachel Weir (born 1738, died October 21, 1823, aged eighty-five years) and Samuel Weir (brother of Rachel) and his wife, Lavina Robinson, sister of Robert Robinson. These families remained near each other, tarrying in Lancaster and Dauphin counties, finally proceeding to Big Sewickley, Westmoreland county, where they separated about the year 1777, Robert Robinson settling four miles north of Saltsburgh, Indiana county, and Samuel Weir coming to the vicinity of Zollarsville, Washington county. Here he tarried for a while, but finally settled on Pigeon creek near the present town of Vanceville, where he died in 1821. His wife, Lavina (Robinson), died about 1816. They are buried in Pigeon Creek churchyard. Their children were (I) Thomas, (II) Jane, (III) James, (IV) William, (V) Elizabeth, (VI) Adam, (VII) Lavina and (VIII) Samuel. (III). James Weir first married Mary Lawrence, who died September 2, 1808, aged fifty six, leaving issue: Col. (1) Samuel and (2) Joseph; the second marriage of James was to Sarah Jenkins, daughter of Eliezer Jenkins, Esq., she died March 15, 1829, aged fifty-five, and their issue: (3) Thomas, (4) Mary, (5) Rebecca, (6) Lavina. Their father died December 5, 1827; aged fifty-seven years. Text taken from page 537 of: Beers, J. H. and Co., Commemorative Biographical Record of Washington County, Pennsylvania (Chicago: J. H. Beers & Co., 1893). The family appears to pan out this way: Thomas King mar. to Lucy Jenkins c. 1805, children: 1) a son, b. betw. 1805-1810, still unmar. in 1830, but out of the hh 1840 2) a son, b. betw, 1805-1810, still unmar. in 1830, but out of the hh 1840 3) a daughter, b. betw. 1810-1815, unmar. in 1830, but out of hh 1840 4) a daughter, b. betw. 1810-1815, unmar. in 1830, but out of hh 1840 5) a son, b. betw. 1810-1820, appears in 1820, out of hh 1830 6) a son, b. betw. 1815-1820, still unmar. 1830, but out of hh 1840 7) a daughter, b. 1820 (on the cusp), not there 1820, col.3 1830, out of hh 1840 8) a son, b. betw. 1820-1825, still unmar. 1840 9) a daughter, b. betw. 1820-1825, still unmar. 1840 10) a daughter, b. betw. 1825-1830, still unmar. 1840 Here are my guesses at the names of these children: 1) son 2) Thomas Jr., b.c. 1809/10 PA 3) daughter 4) daughter 5) son 6) Eleazor, b.c. 1815/19 PA 7) daughter 8) John, b.c. 1822/23/24 PA 9) daughter 10) Mary (Polly), b. 1826 OH, mar.
