Aaron McAllister (composer) and Daryl Lisa Fazio (lyricist/librettist) are an emerging young writing team who met in 2006 as new professors at Coastal Carolina University. Within weeks of discovering one was a playwright and the other a composer, they were at work on their first musical, a completely original concept that became the dramatic piece, lift. After that six-month writing process, both were eager for a change of pace and turned to POPart: The Musical, another original concept, though this time a campy, high-octane comedy, that Daryl had begun on her own years before and without a composer.

Within a year of meeting, they had two new shows written. Within a few more months, they had their first staged reading of lift at the Off-Broadway York Theatre in New York City. And several months after that, POPart: The Musical had a fully-staged workshop at Coastal Carolina University. The duo is working currently on a small-cast dramatic concept musical called Blackout, which takes place during the New York City blackout of 1977.

Both Aaron and Daryl continue to teach full-time at the university where they met in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Daryl’s writing for the stage includes Greyhounds (American Theatre of Actors, Theatre Row, Truman State University), Georgia Out of My Mind (Minnesota Fringe Festival), Split in Three (Eudora Welty New Plays Series winner, New Stage Theatre), and two musicals written with composer, Aaron McAllister: POPart: The Musical (workshop @ Coastal Carolina University, staged reading @ York Theatre, NYC) and lift (staged reading, York Theatre, NYC). They are currently working on their third, a concept musical called Blackout. She holds degrees in Theatre (Northwestern University) and Graphic Design and is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Coastal Carolina University.

Daryl is also a graphic designer and an educator at Coastal Carolina University. She has a B.S. in Theatre from Northwestern University and an M.F.A. in graphic design from the University of Memphis.
