21st Annual Sport, Physical Activity, Recreation Law Conference

Dear Colleagues,  


As we begin a new year we hope that one of your New Year’s Resolutions is to join us in sunny Myrtle Beach, SC for the 21st Annual Sport, Physical Activity, Recreation Law Conference sponsored by The Sport and Recreation Law Conference.  We are looking forward to an exciting few days starting Wednesday, February 27th and concluding Saturday, March 1.  This year we welcome in some new and exciting changes emanating from the work of your committees and the Board of Directors.  The most apparent one you will see upon your arrival is the new SRLA logo. Other changes include the addition of a President’s Reception on Thursday evening, which replaces the welcome reception typically held on Wednesday evening.


Conference Program:  The Conference Program is now on the SRLA website, srlaweb.org.  Thanks to those of you who submitted a presentation abstract, all of the reviewers and Past-President Becky Mowrey for the work you have put into the program.


Conference Presenters:  We ask that you forward your PowerPoint presentation to Colleen McGlone at Cmcglone@coastal.edu no later than Monday, February 18th.  This will allow sufficient time to load the presentation onto the computers.  If you are using Office 07, please remember to save the document using the 03 format to insure compatibility with the Conference computers. Also, please remember to bring enough copies of your presentation, three holed punched, for distribution to all conference attendees. As we get closer to the Conference, we will let all of you the approximate number of attendees.


Registration:  The Conference Registration form is now on the SRLA website.  It is important to note that to avoid late fees your registration fee must be Received by Friday, February 8, 2008.


Conference Hotel:  The beautiful Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation is our oceanfront Conference hotel.  Information on how to make a reservation at the hotel is on the SRLA website.  The conference room rates are in effect three prior to the Conference and three days after.  Please remember that when making a reservation to use the Conference group code of “SRL”.  Reservations must be made no later than Friday, February 8, 2008 for the Conference room rate.


Airport Transportation:  For those of you who are arriving at the Myrtle Beach airport, transportation will be provided to and from the airport.  If you want to use this transportation option, you MUST have your flight information to Colleen McGlone at Cmcglone@coastal.edu no later than Friday, February 18th.
For those of you who are using the Wilmington, NC or other regional airports, transportation will not be provided.  However, if Conference attendees are renting a vehicle and wish to share a ride, send your flight information to Colleen McGlone and she will attempt to partner people up.  Please be sure to include contact information.
