Constitution of the
CCU Customs
September 2007

Article I
Sec 1.
This organization shall be known as CCU Customs or as CCUC.
Sec 2. The objective of this organization shall be to:
A. Encourage ownership, operation, and appreciation of motor vehicles, especially sports cars.
B. Provide competitive and non-competitive events for students and others.
C. Provide technical assistance and automotive displays.
D. Provide social gatherings for members and invited guests.
E. Encourage sensible operation of motor vehicles on public roads.


Article II

Sec 1. Membership is open to anyone that is of legal driving age.
Sec 2. Membership will run from the date of dues paid until the following Aug. 22. Dues will be assessed on an annual basis and prorated for the spring and summer semesters.
Membership dues are $25 per year.


Article III
Sec 1. The officers of CCUC shall consist of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and event’s coordinator, all of which will form the executive board.
A. Officers duties.
1. President - shall preside over general and executive meetings, coordinate group activities and communicate with the officers and advisor.
2. Vice-president - shall assist the president and preside over meetings in the absence of the president.
3. Secretary - shall be responsible for registration at all club events/activities, for processing membership information, maintaining a current list of members, and other activities which include phone list, mailings, meeting notes, etc.
4. Treasurer- shall collect dues, pay bills, and oversee other monetary transactions.
5. Event’s Coordinator - shall prepare media releases and pursue activities that would benefit CCUC.
B. An officer’s failure to perform delegated tasks will permit impeachment proceedings as follows:
1. A majority vote of quorum at a regularly scheduled meeting will be required to bring impeachment proceedings against an officer.
2. At the next meeting following the initiation of impeachment proceedings, two-thirds majorities vote by ballot of a quorum attendance.
C. Impeachment proceedings may also be procured against officers who fail to attend at least 50% of the regular meetings during his/her stay in board.
Sec 2. The executive board has the power to appoint activity to oversee regular club activities. These positions include, but are not limited to, Social Chair. Removal of and appointment to these positions will be vested in this board.
Sec 3. To qualify for election as an officer, a person must:
A. Be a member of CCUC at time of nomination, election for the entire stay in office.
B. Must have at least a 2.0 GPA cumulative and term for semesters prior and concurrent to term of office.
C. Be in good standing with the University and enrolled in at least six credit hours in a regular semester during the term of office.
D. Be subject to removal from office by the organization and/or the organization Official University advisor should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in (b) and (c).
Sec 4. Election of officers shall be held during the last regularly scheduled meeting in the spring semester and the terms shall commence at the conclusion of the election and will continue until the next election unless removal or resignation occurs prior to then.
A. Nominations will be held for officer positions at the next to last and last meetings of the spring semester.
B. Elections proceedings shall be administered by the advisor(s) and the secretary. The secretary can not oversee any election for which they are running. If necessary, the advisor(s) will appoint a replacement to carry out the secretary’s duties.
C. Official ballots must be printed and distributed to all current members at the beginning of the election process. Absentee voting is not allowed.
D. Ballots must be counted publicly and openly.
E. If a recount is requested, this recount must be conducted aloud. All objections must be addressed before the end of the election meeting.


Article IV
Sec 1. Meetings:
A. Regular meetings will be held every Friday at a location agreed upon by the executive board.
B. The program of the meeting (regular) shall be at the discretion of and presided over by the highest-ranking member of the executive board present.
Sec 2. Special meetings may be called at anytime by majority vote of the executive board and must be announced:
A. At the last regularly scheduled meeting prior to the special meeting, or:
B. By personal contact by members of the executive board at least three days prior to the special meeting.

Article V
Sec 1. All legislative decisions will be voted on by show of hands by members present at meetings when consideration for such decisions arises, subject to requirement of quorum.
Sec 2. A quorum for business shall be declared when four members of the executive board and at least one fifth of the members are present at a scheduled meeting.
Sec 3. Results of all legislative decisions will be available to members no later than two weeks following such decisions through the office of the president, who will possess powers such that this may be accomplished.

Article VI
All money belonging to CCUC shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for the organization at the CCU Student Organization Finance Center and/or the Fiscal Office. All funds must be deposited within 24 hours after collection.

Article VII
This constitution may be amended at any time by:
A. Reading of a motion at a regular meeting.
B. Distribution of the motion in print to members attending the next meeting.
C. Two thirds majority vote (ballot) of a quorum attendance a meeting which motion is distributed.
D. Subject to approval of the student organizations board.

Amendments

Amendment I
A. Disciplinary Clause
1. Any one who while on a CCU Customs’ event, which is any activity with more than 5 CCU Customs’ members, who a displays a manor in which is degrading to the club or Coastal Carolina University, is subject to reprimand.
2. The actions that will result in reprimand include and not limited to
Section 1. - Any form of reckless driving
Section 2. - Any action that results in the club being portrayed in a negative manor
Section 3. - Not abiding by all Coastal Carolina University’s rules and regulations set forth by OSAL, and the Office of Student Affairs
Section 4. - Arriving at any event while under suspension or removal from organization
3. These punishments include but are not limited to,
Section 1. -Suspension from the next CCU Customs event for a first and second offence.
Section 2. - The third offence would result in removal of club privileges; sponsorships, paid events, any benefits from the club.
Section 3. - The fourth offence would result in removal from the club, and forfeiting of their dues, removal of CCU Customs decals from their vehicles, and the return of their membership card.

Amendment II
Car Shows and Special Events Amendment

Member Admittance
In order for a member to attend a sponsored event a predetermined amount of points must be earned. These points will be awarded from attendance. The amount of points needed will be two thirds of the number of points possible from meetings for the time period. Extra points will be awarded for club working events.
- 2 points will be awarded for each weekly meeting attended
- 4 points will be awarded for each event worked at. Car wash, club day, etc.

Vehicle Admittance
In order for a member’s vehicle to be sponsored for an event it must accumulate at least 25 points, which will be awarded as follows:
