Courtney E. Elliton, a sophomore marine science major at Coastal Carolina University from Huntingtown, MD, was presented with the Robert W. Squatriglia Outstanding Undergraduate Student Leader Award at the Conway (SC) Rotary Club meeting on April 28, 2011. The cash prize of $100 is an annual award sponsored by the Rotary Club of Conway and the Coastal Carolina University (CCU) Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), national leadership honor society, to a student who exemplifies the leadership ideals of ODK and practices the Rotary motto of service above self. Elliton has been active on campus committees, student government association, and STAR (students taking active responsibility) at Coastal Carolina University.
After an introduction by Charmaine Tomczyk, ODK Faculty Secretary, and receiving a book on leadership presented by Squatriglia, Elliton gave a brief presentation on her recent research about Alzheimer’s for which Rotary gives financial support through their CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) fund. www.cartfund.org When asked what she plans to do with her cash prize, Elliton said “It will go into my Australia fund” which will support her travel this summer to the west coast of Australia to earn CCU transfer academic credit for a course in tropical marine biology.

Coastal Carolina University Omicron Delta Kappa's Public Relations Officer, Robert Hoff, presents the Circle's
2010 Undergraduate Leader of the Year Award to Caitlin Vaccaro. Vaccaro is a Business Management major, English
minor from Calabash, NC. The award was voted upon by the Circle, and was presented at the Conway Rotary Club meeting
on April 16, 2010.

Rotary Club of Conway and Omicron Delta Kappa Circle of Coastal Carolina University
Robert W. Squatriglia Undergraduate Leader of the Year Award presented to
Janet R. Shokal, University Sophomore. At its Thursday. April 29 business meeting, Janet Shokal
was presented her recognition plaque and a cash award by the Rotary Club of Conway. Those pictured
above are: Bob Squatriglia, ODK Circle Faculty Secretary and Rotary Club Member. John R. Adamec,
ODK Circle President, award recipient Janet R. Shokal, Ms Charmaine Tomczyk, ODK Faculty member and
CCU Associate Dean of Library Services, and Ms. Becky Sawyer, Rotary Club President. Ms. Shokal,
a sophomore, was selected by vote of the membership of the ODK Circle. This award is the only such
joint award sponsored by a Rotary club with any of the nearly 300 ODK circles (campuses)
in the United States. The award was established in 1982, and was renamed to recognize Vice President
for Student Affairs Emeritus Squatriglia upon his retirement in 2003. A permanent plaque, bearing
the names of past recipients, is displayed on the CCU campus.
