Designed to prepare young members of O?K for service on nonprofit boards of directors, the seventh annual CLT2 program will be held Thursday, March 10 - Sunday March 13, 2011 at the Omni Hotel & The University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. The program will provide an opportunity for select O?K members to learn about board responsibilities, how to match their interests with board service, and how nonprofits contribute to healthy societies. Those attending will also be provided an opportunity to visit nonprofit organizations in the Richmond area to provide a real-world context for the experience. The nonprofit sector will be looking for leaders like you in the near future and the CLT2 program will give you the basis you need to serve effectively.

Most importantly, CLT2 is an opportunity unlike any other being offered to college students today and as members of Omicron Delta Kappa, you are the only ones who have access to the program. You will have the opportunity to network with O?K members from around the country, you will experience an intensive academic program, and you will be able to use the experience to demonstrate your service and leadership to future employers or graduate programs. There are so many Leadership Programs and Recognitions available today that many are viewed as simply another line on a resume. CLT2 is a chance to get the benefit of extra leadership development that will also provide you with a concrete basis for life-time leadership and community benefit.

Program description:

The program features national leaders in the academic and practical fields of nonprofit governance presenting engaging and valuable information on nonprofit leadership topics including why and how the nonprofit sector exists, nonprofit structures and governance, matching personal Interests with board service, strategic planning and board development, the differing roles of board members, executives, and staff, and the ethical responsibilities of board service.

CLT2 combines lecture and discussion with faculty, experiential learning through case studies, and hands-on learning from nonprofit site visits and speakers. You can expect to be challenged throughout the program academically, socially, and personally. Previous participants regularly reflect on CLT2 as the most unique, vital, and personally engaging program they have ever attended. A 2009 participant wrote:

The ideal candidate to participate in this program is a member of O?K who is interested in making a difference in the world through leadership positions on nonprofit boards of directors. Anyone looking to learn more about how to continue involvement after college or for an opportunity to demonstrate a continued commitment to public service is a welcome applicant for the program. Candidates should be prepared for an academic challenge, enhanced honing of personal leadership abilities, active participation with fellow O?K members and distinguished faculty, and a strong emphasis on continuing service and volunteering.
